Who can humm?

You just need to tick these boxes:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be a permanent resident of New Zealand
  • Have a valid email address and mobile number
  • Have a New Zealand driver’s license or passport
  • Be permanently employed working at least 25 hours per week or receiving New Zealand Superannuation or Veterans pension
  • Not be undischarged bankrupt or have reasons to believe you may become insolvent

I want to humm! Where do I start

This bit’s super simple. First things first: depending on whether you’re an Apple or Android person, go to either the App Store or Google Play and download the App.

Once you’ve got the App running, just follow the steps and you’ll be good to go. Niiice!

How do I shop with humm?

Pre-approval is the way to go on this. Apply before you shop, through the humm App. Just tell us how much you’d like pre-approved (up to $3,000) or let us pick an amount for you. All you need to do is share access to your bank statements for information to help us in our approval process.

Humm is fast and simple, once approved, to use no matter where you prefer to shop. Online, simply select humm at checkout and you will be taken through to humm to confirm your payment.

For little things, it’s easy you can apply for up to $1,000. Approval is fast and easy and you get a choice to repay either fortnightly or weekly over 2.5 months1. Plus each payment frees your balance to spend again.

With no interest, are the fees high?

No they’re not. When you buy a ‘Big things’ there will be an establishment fee of $20 and a monthly fee of $2.50, for any month where your balance is greater than zero2.

When you buy using humm ‘Little things’ there are no fees, if you pay it back in full on time2.

What does it cost to use humm?

Nappies Direct charges a 4.5% surcharge for all humm transactions. The amount of this surcharge is detailed during the checkout process.

What are the fees for late payment?

If your payments don’t reach humm by the due date, humm may charge you a late payment fee of $10. A $30 collection fee may also be applied if any payment is still outstanding more than 7 days after your due date.

When are my payments processed?

Your first payment is 20% of the purchase price and is made when you make your purchase. Each subsequent instalment is charged every fortnight (or weekly) after the purchase date.

What happens if I cannot make a payment?

The friendly humm support team are available to help if you have any questions about your payments. You can reach humm via their Contact page or call 0800 189 236.

If your payments don’t reach humm by the due date, humm may charge you a late payment fee of $10. A $30 collection fee may also be applied if any payment is still outstanding more than 7 days after your due date.

Can I make additional payments or pay off my purchase earlier?

Absolutely. humm charges no fees to complete your purchase payments early. If you would like to do this, please contact the friendly humm support team via their Contact page or call 0800 189 236.

What if I want to return the goods I have purchased?

Simply return your purchase as usual by contacting the retailer and they will handle returns in line with their policy. If a return is accepted, humm will refund you the amount agreed with the retailer and adjust or cancel any future payments. humm will do this as soon as we can, but the process can take time.

Who do I contact about refunds?

You’ll need to contact the retailer you made the purchase from. If a refund is required in accordance with the retailer’s policy or by law and humm are told by the retailer to do so, humm will refund you the amount agreed with the retailer and adjust or cancel any future payments, if necessary. If you have problems after contacting the retailer, contact humm via their Contact page or call them on 0800 189 236.

I haven’t received my purchase?

If you do not receive your order, please contact the retailer. After talking to the retailer and if you’re still experiencing problems, get in touch via humm’s Contact page or by calling their support team on 0800 189 236.

How do I close my humm account?

You can close your humm account by contacting humm via their Contact page or calling their support team on 0800 189 236. Please note, all outstanding amounts will need to be paid in full before you can close your account.

What cards does humm take?

Humm accept any Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card that have been issued in New Zealand for humm payments. Currently, they  do not accept any prepaid cards or any credit or debit cards that have been issued outside of New Zealand.

Is there a maximum purchase?

A single humm purchase can be up to $3,000.

Is there a minimum purchase?

Humm has a minimum purchase of $20.

What is the maximum amount of humm arrangements I can have with you?

The total sum of all your humm arrangements can’t exceed $3,000 at any one time, and you can’t have more than 5 active purchases.

How can I make a purchase that is more than $3,000, and still pay it off?

We can still help you get what you want now. humm has a single transaction limit of $3,000, however they have a range of other products you can use to get those more expensive purchases and pay them off over a longer period. You can check out our products at nz.flexigroup.co.nz.

What do I do if my card has been lost or stolen?

Follow your bank’s lost or stolen process and contact humm on 0800 189 236 as soon as possible so they are able to change the card details that your payments are associated with. This will also help avoid any late payment fees incurred due to a failed or late payment.

Can I add / remove a card I would like my instalments paid from / to?

Yes, you can change the card your payments are associated with. Simply contact humm on 0800 189 236 to talk to their support team to update your payment details.

Can I change my payment date?

Sorry, we cannot change your payment due date(s).

Can I change my purchase amount?

Sorry, we cannot change your purchase amount.

I have tried to make a purchase but the transaction has declined. Why?

When humm are approving a new purchase, they do a few checks for you to determine if:

  • The purchase is within the maximum purchase limit ($3,000)
  • Whether the purchase instalment payment(s) will exceed $200 per fortnightly payment on humm ‘Little things’
  • The maximum amount of all humm arrangements you currently have with them is not more than $3,000

These checks are in place to ensure your repayments are easy to manage and friendly on your wallet.

Other reasons why your transaction could decline could be due to general system or website errors, or you have not registered for humm.

Why have I been declined?

There are several reasons why you could be declined by humm:

  • You do not live in New Zealand
  • You are not 18 years or older
  • You do not have a valid email address
  • You do not have a New Zealand mobile number
  • You do not have a New Zealand driver’s licence or passport
  • We have not been able to verify your identity
